Over the past few days, many flowers have opened in the garden. This morning, there was the first tomato flower – in a quite un-photographable position! The same goes for the “Tom Thumb” pea. I seem to be down to one only Alium Christophii (Albopilosum), which I love for the silvery metallic gleam on its petals, and the first love-in-the-mist, a ghostly presence in last night’s twilight. Elsewhere, the ceanothus is in bloom, valerian is opening, foxgloves and sisyrinchium striatum are fully open. We may not have had “April showers”, but “May flowers” are certainly in full swing.
